Neighborhood Services

 
The following is a brief description of the services provided in the Mayfield neighborhood:

Covenant Enforcement Services The Mayfield Metro District is responsible for enforcing the covenants within the Mayfield neighborhood. The District contracts with its management company to provide these services. The District's board establishes enforcement policies and monitors the enforcement services provided by the management company.
 
Architectural Review Services The Mayfield Metro District is responsible for providing architectural review services to homeowners in the Mayfield neighborhood. The District has assigned this responsibility to its board of directors. The Board is responsible for evaluating whether each homeowner request complies with the community’s architectural design guidelines (a copy of which can be downloaded from the document library on this website).
 
Snow Plowing - Streets The streets around the single family homes are owned and maintained by the City of Thornton. Thus, the City is responsible for plowing the snow off of the streets around the single family homes. Per the City’s current snow plow plan for the Mayfield neighborhood, there are two streets that are plowed for snow -- Niagara Street (from 120th Avenue to 118th Avenue) and 118th Avenue (from Niagara Street to Quebec Street) . No other streets in the Mayfield neighborhood are included in the City’s snow plow route.

Snow Plowing - Sidewalks The District is responsible for plowing the snow off of all sidewalks located in District-owned open spaces (which includes the sidewalks along the south side of 120th Avenue). The District contracts this service through its landscaper.

The City of Thornton is responsible for plowing the snow off of the sidewalks in the Mayfield park.

Homeowners are responsible for plowing snow off of the public sidewalks running across their Lots.
 
Garbage Collection The City of Thornton provides weekly garbage and bi-weekly recyclable pick-up service to all residents in the Mayfield neighborhood. Garbage pickup occurs on Tuesdays of each week and recycling pickup occurs the second and fourth week of each month. For those weeks when a holiday occurs, garbage pick-up will be pushed back to Wednesday.
 
Street Parking Enforcement The City (through its police department) establishes and enforces ordinances regarding parking on City-owned streets. However, the Metro District may adopt and enforce street parking rules that are more restrictive than the parking ordinances established by the City.
 
Open Space Landscaping Maintenance The District owns and maintains the landscaping of all common areas. For further information, review the parks and open space landscape map HERE.
 
Park Equipment Maintenance The City of Thornton owns and is responsible for maintaining the park equipment at the Mayfield park. Residents should call the City's Parks Division with questions or concerns regarding the park at (303) 255-7831.
 
Graffiti Removal Generally, property owners are responsible for removing graffiti off of their fences and other structures. However, the City of Thornton provides a free graffiti removal service to property owners who request such service.
 
Street Light Maintenance United Power is responsible for maintaining the street lights throughout the Mayfield neighborhood. Any maintenance issues or concerns regarding the street lights should be directed to United Power.
 
School Busing The Mayfield neighborhood is located within the Adams 12 School District. Consequently, homeowners should contact the school district for further information regarding school bus schedules.
 
Mail Delivery Mail is delivered Monday through Saturday each week by the US Post Office. Mail for the Mayfield neighborhood is processed through the US Post Office branch located at:

The Post Office is responsible for maintaining and repairing the mail boxes throughout the Mayfield neighborhood.
 
Mosquito Control The City of Thornton is responsible for providing mosquito control services to the Mayfield neighborhood. The City has outsourced this service to a third-party contractor—Vector Disease Control International. Concerns about mosquitoes and the need for neighborhood spraying should be called in to (800) 276-4306.
